Iron Infusion

What is an Iron Infusion?

An iron infusion is an intravenous (IV) treatment that quickly replenishes iron levels, making it ideal for individuals who cannot take oral supplements.

Side Effects

Potential side effects include skin staining at the injection site, which occurs in approximately 1 to 10 out of every 1,000 patients.

Consultation Requirement

A consultation is required before scheduling an iron infusion, even if you have previously seen another doctor.

Cost & Medicare Rebate

The procedure costs $200, with a Medicare rebate of $122.15. A separate consultation is required beforehand.

Important Information

Iron infusions can benefit many patients but may not be suitable for everyone. Our doctors will assess whether this treatment is right for you.

In rare cases, doctors may need to call an ambulance. If this occurs, the patient is responsible for the cost of the ambulance service.
